Meet the Team

Dr Abhi Pal

Dr Abhi Pal

BDS (London), LDS, MFGDP, MGDSRCSI, FFGDP (UK)
GDC Registration number 62049

Qualified Guy’s Hospital London in 1987 with honours and distinction. Abhi has been working at this practice since 1991 as the Lead Clinician. He has extensive experience in Restorative and Implant Dentistry. In addition to being a practitioner, he is a Clinical Teaching Fellow at Warwick University where he is a module leader for MSc courses in Implant and Restorative Dentistry.

He has been awarded the FFGDP(UK) diploma by the Royal College of Surgeons — a significant quality indicator in general practice. He is an elected National Board Member for the FGDP(UK) and is involved in developing quality standards in dentistry.

Abhi provides Independent Expert Witness reports in dento-legal matters for lawyers, regulatory bodies and defence organisations. He has completed training with Cardiff University Law School as an Expert Witness. For further details about this service please click here.


Dr Ashish Colin Sinha

Colin graduated in 1998 and has worked in hospital posts at the Queen’s University Belfast, Dundee and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. He has been at the University Dental and Implant Centre since 2004. He has had extensive experience and training in Restorative Dentistry and has a MSc in Restorative Dentistry from Leeds University. He has been awarded the prestigious FFGDP(UK) and FDS RCPS(Glasgow).

Colin’s clinical interests are in all areas of Restorative Dentistry including treatment of Tooth Wear, Dentures, Root Canal Treatments.

Colin is currently an examiner for the MJDF examinations at the Royal College of Surgeons England. He has been a Foundation Dentist Trainer for the West Midlands Deanery seven times. Currently he is the Postgraduate Dental Tutor at Shrewsbury and the Training Program Director for Dental Foundation Training at Telford.

Mina is the newest member of our team and is currently covering Dr Fatimah Jawaid’s maternity leave, until Autumn 2019.

Mina graduated from the University of Leeds in 2004. She had the privilege of intercalating in Psychology for a year where she earned a degree in 2002. This has aided her in the behavioural management of patients suffering from dental anxiety. She has a keen interest in the art and science of dentistry, but is more passionate about the well-being of each patient sitting in the chair. She endeavours to provide the best possible treatments/advice in an environment that is comfortable and welcoming and with a few laughs had by all.

Mina worked as a senior dentist at a mixed NHS/Private practice in Leeds as an associate for 13 years; she had the honour of investing in the health of individuals, families and children growing into adults. She is an experienced practitioner who takes a keen interest in further learning and development. She recently completed a Masters in Advanced General Dental Practice with a distinction at the University of Birmingham. This helped her develop her skills in a number of areas in dentistry including restorative dentistry, endodontics and prosthodontics.

Mina has a keen interest in geriatric dentistry and improving the oral/general health of this vulnerable population.


Dr Fatimah Jawaid

Fatimah graduated from The University of Birmingham with Distinction in Clinical Dentistry in 2012 and has been involved with the practice since then. She has also worked at the Royal London Hospital as a Restorative Senior House Officer within this time.

She has a keen interest in undertaking complex tooth wear cases, aesthetic dentistry and she is currently undertaking a MSc in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics at Kings College London. Fatimah is also a foundation dentist trainer for the West Midlands Deanery, and is a Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (FGDP) educational tutor for the West Midlands.

Dr Jawaid is currently on maternity leave with her first baby until the autumn of 2019.


Yvonne Steward

Yvonne is our dental hygienist. She completed her training at Guy’s Hospital London in 1982. Yvonne provides oral hygiene services such as scaling, polishing and instruction in how to look after your teeth.

Suzanne qualified as a dental hygienist from Bristol University in 2011.


Robinder Seera

Robinder Seera, Hygienist

Robinder qualified as a dental hygienist from the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden in 1999. She is currently covering for Suzanne Watkin whilst she is on leave.


Bethan Liddy, Foundation Dentist

Bethan graduated with Honours from the University of Manchester in 2017, and is currently completing her dental foundation training.


Melissa Fieldhouse

Melissa Fieldhouse, Practice Manager

I qualified as a dental nurse in 1997, and became a member of the University Dental Centre in 1998 and have been here ever since. I started at the dental centre as a dental nurse all those years ago, but have since gained qualifications in Dental Radiography and Dental Practice Management, and are now the practice manager, although very occasionally I do still help out in surgery. I am registered as a Dental Care Professional with the GDC.

It is lovely to be part of such a great team, we are like one big happy family, that makes it a pleasure to come to work. Aside from work I am married with 2 children and very much enjoy family time at our weekend retreat in the Cotswolds.

I qualified as a dental nurse in 1991 and joined the dental practice in 1992. I am a part time dental nurse here at the University Dental Centre and a full time mother to 3 children now teenagers.

I am trained in dental implantology and sedation. I take a caring approach with patients and staff, as I am always there with a hand to hold and a sympathetic ear.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my precious family and friends. I have recently discovered my creative side and taught myself to make candles/wax melts for my own pleasure and a little bit of "me time".


Josie Bown

I work full time at the University Dental Centre and have been a member of the team since 2005. I am trained in general dental nursing, and also trained in dental implantology.

Over the years I have progressed and undertaken many training courses relating to dental implants. This enables me to work alongside Dr Pal whose patients are predominately under dental implant care or complex dental treatment cases.


Nicola Wallace

I have worked as a Dental nurse since 1987 and gained my dental nurse qualification in 2001. I have been a member of the University Dental and Implant Centre team since 2005 and currently mainly work alongside the Foundation dentist.

I am a mom to 4 children and also have 2 beautiful granddaughters. In my spare time I enjoy long walks/runs with my dalmation dog, Milo.

Leah Bissell

I am the newest member of the University Dental Centre and I am currently undertaking my Diploma in Dental Nursing with Walsall College, which I aim to complete in March 2019. My aim is to ultimately continue my training and become a Dental Hygienist.

Outside of work I enjoy going to the gym and socializing, and I am currently learning to drive.
